D’Artacan excels himself in all the tests, finishing in the top of all the applicants. The other hopeful is one of Widimer’s men. Widimer tries every trick in the book to ensure that D’Artacan loses, but the Three Muskehounds get involved and beat Widimer up. When D’Artacan duly presents himself before the KING to be proclaimed a Muskehound, there are objections from Richelieu and the injured Widimer on the grounds of outside assistance. Their objection is upheld and D’Artacan disqualified.
