D’Artacan is now an apprentice Muskehound, and sees at first hand the bitter rivalry between the MuskehoundS and Richelieu’s Guards, which even explodes at a meeting with the King. However, it is clear that the KING realises that much of what is presented as outrageous behaviour on the part of the MuskehoundS has been provoked by the Guards.
