Hans leads the group through routes which get more and more dangerous until Willy Fog unmasks him and discovers that he is in fact Transfer. The real Hans appears and Transfer flees. They reach a peasant’s village where the peasants try to steal their precious instruments necessary for the expedition but they discover them in time. When dawn breaks they go to the base of the volcano.
